1973 The First Gold Cup DN World Championship

The First Gold Cup DN World Championship was organized by Commodore Art Teutsch with the help of Bill Connell, the DNIYC of Detroit, and the Cass Lake Yacht Club. John Bush was race chairman. Everyone had hoped the first Gold Cup would be sailed on Lake Saint Clair, the birthplace of the DN. However, as luck would have it, the regatta had to be moved to Gull Lake for better ice conditions.
